Production Guild

The Production Guild of Great Britain helps bring film and TV drama professionals together. The UK’s leading membership organisation for those working in production.

The Production Guild [PRG] wanted us to develop a more consistent and user-friendly navigation and IA and improve the overall UI.

My role

Working at Grandad Digital I was tasked with researching and developing a better overall user and design experience.

This started with an overhaul of the information architecture. Workshops that involved card sorting content into more logical groupings resulted in 3 main areas, or hubs of content – Member Information, About PRG and Browsing (all about discovery).

Using these 3 main content hubs I developed a new IA which we then presented to PRG and tested against their predefined user personas and epic statements.

Visualising user flows

As PRG is a members site it was critical to show what content is visible to logged-in and non-logged-in users. The new information architecture I developed clearly demonstrates this whilst showing the primary and secondary routes.

In order to test the new information architecture, I created detailed user flows allowing the client, and our team to clearly visualise what happens at each interaction.

Refreshing the old

Using the new information architecture, user flows and existing brand elements we developed a refreshing and updated visual experience across all devices for all users, continually referring back and testing against the user personas and their epic statements, right up until final deployment.
